1. The following documents must be supplied before writing the examinations:
- An application for acceptance [PDF, 43.9KB]
The completed form must be accompanied by an R50 uncancelled revenue stamp.
- A certified copy of any one of the following qualifications:
- An appropriate mine surveying degree;
- A national diploma in mine surveying;
- The Chamber of Mines Advanced Certificate in Mine Surveying plus the Chamber of Mines Advanced Certificate in Mine Valuation; or
- Any other equivalent mine surveying qualification(s) acceptable to the Commission of Examiners.
- A certified copy of the official Chamber of Mines record of service form on an official company letterhead confirming proof of your appropriate experience, subject to the following minimum criteria:
- If you have a degree in mine surveying: at least three years practical experience in mine surveying acceptable to the commission, provided that one year has been in the underground workings of a mine;
- If you have a national diploma in mine surveying: at least three years practical experience in mine surveying acceptable to the commission, provided that one year has been in the underground workings of a mine; and
- If you have the Chamber of Mines Advanced Certificates: at least five years practical experience in mine surveying acceptable to the commission, provided that one year has been in the underground workings of a mine.
Note: Where no underground experience is evident, a Certificate of Limited Scope will be considered.
- An original letter from your Chief Surveyor, Mentor or other Competent Supervisor regarding your relevant experience.
- A testimonial confirming your general good conduct and sober habits.
- A certified copy of your identity document.
2. Once you have had confirmation of acceptance as a candidate, the following must be completed and submitted before the closing date of the examinations:
- An application for examination form [PDF, 44.5KB]
- The completed form must be accompanied by an uncancelled R100 revenue stamp.

- If you wish to appeal for a re-mark of any subject, download this form [PDF, 43.9KB].
The completed form must be accompanied by an uncancelled R40 revenue stamp.
