Refer to the

A candidate who is examined for the first time must do all four subjects: Legal Knowledge, Practical, Electrical and Mechanical.
If a candidate has failed after three consecutive attempts, they will have to wait for three months before they will be accepted again for the exam. They will then be re-examined on all four subjects. When such a candidate fails to attend the exam consecutively, they will have to wait for three months before attempting all four subjects.
A qualified winding engine driver who has not driven for a period of two years must be retested on legal knowledge and practical subjects. A qualified winding engine driver whose certificate has lapsed after two years and has not driven for more than five years will be tested on all four subjects.
A winding engine driver who has passed a re-examination must produce his original certificate at the examination board before a letter of approval that the certificate is valid will be issued to such a driver.
A qualified winding engine driver whose certificate has been withdrawn due to medical reasons (irrespective of the time lapsed) will be treated as a new candidate after he or she has been declared medically fit.
